Bengaluru Police arrest RCB's Marketing Head after stampede during RCB's IPL 2025 victory celebrations: Reports

Celebrations turned into a nightmare for many fans a day after the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) lifted their first-ever Indian Premier League (IPL) title, winning the 2025 edition of the tournament. Many lost their lives, with several others injured, in the stampede outside the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru, upon the team’s arrival on June 4. The franchise’s marketing head, Nikhil Sosale, has been arrested by the police.RCB beat the Punjab Kings (PBKS) in the IPL 2025 final on Tuesday, June 3, in Ahmedabad. While the franchise had decided on a road show in Bengaluru, the government ordered for cancellation of the same due to a lack of security personnel. With the police unable to manage the massive crowd that gathered outside the stadium, where the celebration ceremony was scheduled, a stampede broke out, and many lost their loved ones.As per a report by Cricbuzz, the Bengaluru Police has arrested Nikhil Sosale, RCB’s Head of Marketing and Revenue, at the Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru. Moreover, police officials detained DNA Entertainment Network’s employees, Sunil Mathew (Vice President - Business Affairs) and Kiran Kumar (Senior Event Manager).Bengaluru CM Siddaramaiah released an order to arrest RCB, DNA, and KSCA (Karnataka State Cricket Association) officials after 11 people died in the stampede outside the Chinnaswamy Stadium on Wednesday, June 4.RCB and players shared condolences for those who lost their lives in stampedeA day after the tragic event, the franchise shared a social media post, mourning the lives of those who died in the stampede, with Virat Kohli, the face of the team, also condoling the loss.Their official statement read (via RCB's Instagram account):“We are deeply anguished by the unfortunate incidents that have come to light through media reports regarding public gatherings all over Bengaluru in anticipation of the team’s arrival this afternoon. The safety and well-being of everyone is of utmost importance to us. RCB mourns the tragic loss of lives and extend our heartfelt condolences to the affected families.”“In addition, a fund called RCB Cares is also being created to support fans injured in this tragic incident. Our fans will always remain at the heart of everything that we do. We remain united in grief,” the statement further read.
