Bermuda Pacers Track Club Excel In Florida
The Bermuda Pacers Track Club delivered outstanding performances at the 2025 Speed Capital Caribbean Showcase in Florida, with athletes aiming for spots on Bermuda’s 2025 Carifta Games team.
A spokesperson said, “The event, held at the Ansin Sports Complex on February 22-23, featured elite competitors from the Caribbean, Florida, and neighboring states. A highlight was the inaugural Gatlin Foundation 100M event, where Olympic Gold Medalist Justin Gatlin personally crowned the champions.”
“We’re excited to offer a platform where emerging talents can compete at the highest level,” said co-founder Luke Robinson. “Partnering with the Gatlin Foundation adds a prestigious element to our event, inspiring athletes to reach new heights.”
A spokesperson added, “The Bermuda Pacers, under the guidance of coaches Juma Mouchette, Gina Evans, and Monique Lugo, showcased exceptional talent:
“Noree Robinson: The 17-year-old Bermuda DASH athlete clinched the inaugural Justin Gatlin 100m championship with a remarkable time of 10.74 seconds in the 17-18 category.
“Rianna Robinson: At 14, she dominated distance events, securing first place in the 3000m, 1500m, and 800m races.
“Eliana and Gianluca Bortoli: Eliana, 13, won the 3000m and placed third in the 800m. Her brother, Gianluca, in the 15-16 division, earned gold in both the 1500m and 3000m events.
“Jasmine Reid Rubaine: Achieved silver in the 200m and bronze in the 400m.
“Nazir Johnson: Secured silver in the 800m [14-year-old division].
“Timothy Pearman: Earned silver in the 1500m, bronze in the 400m, and placed fourth in the 800m [14-year-old division].
“Sukanya Jobson: Specialized in the 800m, earning gold in the 17-year-old girls’ division.
“Kelise Wade: Secured bronze in the 1500m [15-16 division].
“Aaron Lugo: Competing in the 17-year-old boys’ division, earned gold in the long jump.
“Jaeda Grant: Led the charge by securing gold in the 15-16 girls’ 3000m and narrowly missed a podium finish with a fourth place in the 1500m.
“Other athletes who posted season best or personal best included, Lashee Jones, Dallas Hunt, Leilani Peters, Amaya Davis, and Azari Jones, posted season-best or personal-best performances, highlighting the depth of talent within the club.
“Dr. Freddie Evans, President of the Bermuda National Athletics Association [BNAA], extended congratulations and encouragement to the athletes in their pursuit of Carifta qualifying standards. He also issued an open invitation to athletes from other sports to test their skills in track and field. “If you play football, netball, cricket, rugby, swim, golf, sail, or do gymnastics and you think you have the ability to run, jump, or throw, come and test your skill and see if you can reach a Carifta qualifying standard,” Evans urged.
“Upcoming meets providing opportunities to qualify include:
“Skyport Magic Mile: March 1st
“BSSF School Sports: March 12th and 14th
“Carifta Trials: March 16th [tentative], March 23rd, and 29th
“Clevonte Lodge Sprint Challenge: April 5th
“Athletes meeting or approaching the standards will be invited to join Carifta preparation training sessions, with the opportunity to represent Bermuda at the Carifta Games in Port of Spain, Trinidad, from April 19th to 21st.
“Other athletes who posted season best or personal best included, Lashee Jones, Dallas Hunt, Leilani Peters, Amaya Davis, Dalen Scott and Azari Jones, posted season-best or personal-best performances, highlighting the depth of talent within the club. Also 6 year Pacer old Raelyn Robinson competed at Speed Capital earning a 4th place in the long jump and a 4th place in the 100m.”
