Blue Jays stage improbable late-game comeback to topple host O’s in extra innings

Gimenez would steal his fifth base and second in as many games. He then got caught up in a run down between home and third base.
Baseball’s details, even the smallest that invariably lead to big innings, eluded the team last season and it has carried over.
Two errors, in fact, were committed in the sixth inning, back-to-back no less, by Bo Bichette and Vlad Jr. that led to two unearned runs.
Bichette made amends by driving in the game-tying run in a three-run eighth inning.
It was inexcusable watching pinch-runner Nathan Lukes get thrown out at third base after Santander led off the ninth inning with a double. In the bottom half, Lukes atoned by making a game-saving catch in shallow right-centre to force extra innings.
Ernie Clement was nearly picked off at first base in the 10th inning.
Somehow, the Jays were able to get out of their own way just long enough in finding a way to return home with a 5-4 road trip that improved their overall record to 9-7.
Jays begin a six-game homestand with a Monday night visit by the Atlanta Braves, who started the season by losing seven in a row, which included being shutout twice and two games when one run was produced; Easton Lucas is on the bump for Toronto, fresh off a very impressive outing in Boston.
