Determined to ensure Nigeria’s participation at the next Winter Olympics, to be hosted by Italian cities of Milan and Cortina D’Ampezzo, from February 6 to 22, 2026, the Bobsled and Skeleton Federation of Nigeria, led by its president, Solomon Ogba, paid a courtesy visit to the Consul General of Italy in Nigeria, Mr. Ugo Boni.
The delegation included BSFN Secretary, Lilian Obillor, Chief Operating Officer, Chidinma Eziuka and Media Director, Ojeikere Aikhoje.
Ogba, who doubles as first Vice-President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee, told Boni about Nigeria’s impressive heritage in Winter Sports.
The BSFN debuted at the 2018 Winter Olympics, in PyeongChang, South Korea.
“We are here to seek your collaboration so our athletes and officials can attend competitions in Italy that will eventually help qualify them for the Winter Olympics. We have some athletes in Nigeria and others in diaspora.
“Our athletes have previously competed in Cortina”, Ogba said.
Responding, Boni assured the BSFN delegation of his support to make the dream a reality.
“It is nice to know Nigeria has participated at the Winter Olympics,” he stated.
A return to Cortina d’Ampezzo will be a great experience for the Nigerian athletes after participating in the International Push Championship, in 2023.
Simi Adeagbo made history as the first Nigerian and African bobsledder to compete at the championships, while the BSFN teams, Bob Team Hammed and Bob Team Oloyede, competed in heats and finals, in Cortina.
