Police are seeking the assistance of the public to identify the body of a man who was found at a pavilion in Debe on Saturday.
Police said the only potential lead in identifying the man was a medical prescription found clutched in his hand at the scene. There was no wallet, no identification cards nor a phone to lead authorities to the man's name, address or relatives.
Officers of the San Fernando Police Station received a wireless transmission via the E999 Command Centre around 7.30 a.m. after the man's body was found on the compound of the Debe Recreation Ground.
Officers responded and met paramedics there who said they too were contacted and told of the man seen lying on the pavilion of the recreation ground.
The body was found in a kneeling position on the staircase of the pavilion. The paramedics said they checked for vital signs but there were none.
The body was clad in a black jersey and black short pants, surrounded by bags containing clothing.
In one of the man's hands was a prescription which bore the name “Kadoo Samai”.
A district medical officer examined the body and ordered it removed to the mortuary of the San Fernando General Hospital pending a post-mortem this week.
Police were told that there were no marks of violence and foul play was not suspected.
The man was described as of East Indian descent and appeared to be in his 50s, of slim build with greying hair on his head and beard, brown complexion and approximately 179 centimetres (five feet nine inches) tall.
Detectives WPC Ramroop and PC Henry of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations of Region Three and PC Harricharan, Bhagwandeen, and Ramcharan of the San Fernando Police Station responded.
Anyone with information to assist the case can contact the San Fernando Police Station at 652-1771 or the Homicide Bureau of Investigations of Region Three at 652-0495 or the TTPS Emergency lines at 555, 999 or 911.
