CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — They say lighting doesn’t strike twice in the same place, but for one Champaign man, it did on a Mahomet golf course.
Scott Dalbey approached the second hole at Lake of the Woods Golf Course, choosing a pitching wedge for his shot. The ball gracefully landed on the green and rolled straight into the hole.
But he wasn’t done. On the fifth hole, Dalbey pulled his 9-iron and made another hole-in-one.
He said the people playing in front of him went crazy and he couldn’t believe it. But it wasn’t all smiles during the round.
“I managed to keep the yellow ball from my first hole-in-one, but after scoring a second hole-in-one on the fifth hole, I took that ball for my next tee shot. Unfortunately, I mishit it badly, and it ended up in the lake,” Dalbey explained.
Dalbey continued his hot streak, though. A week later, he hit a ball that stopped just inches from the hole, almost giving him a third hole-in-one.
