During the silver jubilee celebrations of IIFA 2025 on Sunday, producer Boney Kapoor announced plans for a sequel to Sridevi’s last film, Mom, starring his daughter Khushi Kapoor. While speaking to the media on the green carpet, Boney expressed his love for his daughters, Khushi and Janhvi Kapoor, and mentioned their efforts to follow in their mother Sridevi’s footsteps and achieve excellence in different film industries.
Boney said, “I have watched all of Khushi’s films. ‘Archies’, ‘Loveyappa’ and ‘Nadaaniyaan’. I am planning a film with her too after ‘No Entry’. It would be a movie with Khushi. It could be ‘Mom 2’. She is trying to follow in the footsteps of her mother. Her mother was the top star in all the languages she worked in. I hope Khushi and Janhvi succeeded in this same level of perfection.”
Released in 2017, Mom featured Sridevi in a powerful role and was directed by Ravi Udyawar. The film tells a gripping story of a mother seeking justice for her daughter, showcasing Sridevi’s exceptional acting skills. Her performance resonated deeply with audiences and critics alike, earning her the Best Actress National Award posthumously. Mom remains a poignant tribute to her talent and dedication as an actress.
Meanwhile, Khushi Kapoor’s Nadaaniyan is out on Netflix. The film, produced by Dharmatic Entertainment, brings together a fresh ensemble cast under the production of Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Somen Mishra. Apart from Khushi and Ibrahim, the film also stars Suniel Shetty, Mahima Chaudhry, Dia Mirza, and Jugal Hansraj.
The film revolves around Pia Jai Singh (Khushi Kapoor), a South Delhi socialite who believes love should follow a perfect script. Enter Arjun Mehta (Ibrahim Ali Khan), a determined, middle-class overachiever focused on becoming his school’s debate team captain. When Pia convinces Arjun to play her pretend boyfriend in an orchestrated romantic charade, they think they have everything under control—until real feelings start to blur the lines.
