Bookie among three held in Hyderabad for IPL cricketing betting

Hyderabad: The sleuths of Hyderabad Task Force on Sunday nabbed three persons including a bookie for indulging in cricket betting and providing line numbers to punters. Half a dozen mobile phones, an LED TV and Rs.1.04 lakh in cash, all worth over Rs.3 lakh were seized from the possession of the arrested persons identified as Vicky Singh, (38), a businessman and a bookie, V. Rakesh (39), pipes supplier and a sub-bookie, and B. Sandeep (26), a punter, said Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, Task Force, Ande Srinivasa Rao. Both Singh and Rakesh were residents of Dhoolpet while Sandeep was a resident of Goshamahal Rao said the arrested persons procured line numbers from the main bookie Shailender of Chennai in Tamil Nadu and were accepting cricket betting in IPL-2025 at Nala Machilipura in Dhoolpet. For that they are using line numbers to accept bets from punters on live cricket matches. Following a tip off, the Task Force sleuths apprehended the three persons and seized the amount, cell phones and LED TV. The arrested persons and the seized material were handed over to Mangalhat police for further investigation. Rao said the accused were committing the crime after getting addicted to betting.
