British Transport Police issue statement following death of a person found at side of rail tracks on Stafford line

Rail services were called to a halt at around 2.10pm, with all lines closed between Stafford and Rugby, while officers from British Transport Police and an ambulance crew responded to reports of a casualty on the tracks in the Hartshill area in Warwickshire.
A person was found, but despite the best efforts of paramedics at the scene, they were pronounced dead at the scene, with the death not being treated as suspicious.
National Rail has confirmed that services are continuing to be cancelled, delayed or services revised until the end of the day.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: "Police were called at around 2.10pm today (14 July) to reports of a casualty on the tracks in the Hartshill area.
"Officers responded with paramedics, however sadly a person was pronounced dead at the scene.
"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."
A spokesman for National Rail said: "The emergency services are dealing with an incident between Rugby and Stafford / Stoke-on-Trent.
"Whilst they carry out their work, all lines are currently closed. Trains may be cancelled, delayed by up to 60 minutes or revised.
"Major disruption is expected until the end of the day."
A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "We were called by the police to the railway line in Caldecote, Nuneaton at 2.10pm today.
"Two ambulances, two paramedic officers, HART paramedics and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance responded to the scene.
"Sadly, crews confirmed one person deceased at the scene."
