Bryson DeChambeau Rains on Rory McIlroy's Masters Parade with Unreal Finish
@Source: newsweek.com
With just a few holes to go in the third round of The Masters, Rory McIlroy seemed to have taken complete control of the tournament. His incredible eagle on No. 15 gave him a four-shot lead and put him comfortably in the driver's seat.Bryson DeChambeau wasn't ready to just let him run away with things. The LIV Golf star followed McIlroy up with a birdie on the 15th before sticking a great tee shot on the par-3 16th just a few feet away from the hole before making birdie.On No. 18, DeChambeau needed a par to get into the final pairing with McIlroy. After landing his second shot out of the fairway bunker onto the fringe of the green, he got the Augusta National patrons going for the final time on Saturday with a tremendous birdie putt from off the green to get to 10-under-par.DeChambeau cut McIlroy's lead to just two after 54 holes, which seemed unthinkable with just a few holes to go.The reigning U.S. Open champion struggled with his iron play and distance control throughout the third round, but he still ended up shooting a rock-solid 69.The final pairing is an interesting dynamic because of that U.S. Open at Pinehurst in 2024. DeChambeau was playing in the final group, just behind McIlroy, and hunted him down for the trophy with an amazing up-and-down on the final hole to win by one stroke.If McIlroy is to win tomorrow, he will have to overcome the scar tissue from both that and from all of his previous losses at Augusta National.The atmosphere will be amplified by an energetic DeChambeau that will certainly take any opportunity he can to fire up the patrons and get the crowd on his side.All things considered, golf fans are in for an absolute treat with two of the best players in the world battling it out in the final group on Sunday at The Masters.More Golf: Scottie Scheffler 4-Word Reaction to Chase of Rory McIlroy at The Masters
