Stuart Kettlewell wins Kilmarnock boss race as details of Rugby Park announcement revealed
@Source: dailyrecord.co.uk
Stuart Kettlewell will be confirmed as Kilmarnock’s new manager on Monday. Record Sport exclusively broke the story on Thursday that the ex-Motherwell boss was set to be named as Derek McInnes’ successor. A press conference has been confirmed for Monday afternoon, where the 40-year-old will be unveiled. The Rugby Park outfit interviewed more than half-a-dozen candidates from Scotland and abroad but it quickly became clear that Kettlewell was their man. Kettlewell had been out of football since he left Motherwell in January. He had the Steelmen in the top six but stepped down because of the impact abuse, aimed at him, was having on his wife and family. Kettlewell had a win percentage of more than 40% at Motherwell and brought through youngsters like Max Johnston, Dean Cornelius and Lennon Miller. That is a route Kilmarnock want to go down as they look to give some of their Scottish Youth Cup-winning side a chance. Kettlewell, who also won the Championship and a Challenge Cup at Ross County, has also shown he can develop players as he did with Theo Bair for free and then selling him to Austere for a seven figure fee. He is likely to bring in Stephen Frail who was his No. 2 at Motherwell. Killie have been searching for a manager since Derek McInnes was headhunted by Hearts at the end of the season.
