Businessman branded a sexual predator by Nancy Mace shares video 'debunking' rape claims in her House speech
@Source: dailymail.co.uk
A businessman branded a sexual predator by Rep. Nancy Mace says the wild rape scene depicted in her bombshell congressional speech is an 'outrageous' lie. Eric Bowman, 45, was one of four men Mace linked to a 'depraved' trafficking ring in incendiary remarks on the House floor last month. The South Carolina Republican claimed she had evidence that a woman was raped in Bowman's home and that he 'orchestrated' the attack with others and even filmed it. But Bowman breaks his silence today to deny any wrongdoing, exclusively telling DailyMail.com: 'That claim is utterly outrageous and nothing more than another blatant example of #NancyMaceLies.' Bowman – the first of the four accused to give an in-depth interview - confirmed he has spoken to investigators from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) who are investigating Mace's explosive accusations. But the wealthy software engineer insists he has never been under investigation himself and merely spoke to officers over the phone as a potential witness. 'There's nothing to investigate. Nancy will show up to a political event, bust her tire on the curb and tell everyone her tires are slashed because she has a stalker,' he added. Mace took to the House floor - where she's shielded from legal action by the Constitution's 'speech and debate' clause - to accuse Bowman, her ex-fiancé Patrick Bryant, and two of his associates, John Osborne and Brian Musgrave, of 'rape, illegal filming of women, photographing of women, and sex trafficking.' She claimed she had found more than 10,000 videos of the 'gutless, evil' acts on a string of victims – including herself – after gaining access to Bryant's phones and electronic devices. To date nobody has been charged with an offense and Mace has not made any of her footage public. Bryant, 51, issued a statement immediately after the February 10 speech - which aired live to the nation on CSPAN - saying: 'I categorically deny these allegations.' Mace, who is widely expected to jump into the 2026 race for South Carolina governor, singled out an incident at Bowman's sprawling $4.8million mansion as an example of the 'heinous' attacks. 'Last year, I had to tell a woman she'd been raped and she didn't even know it … she had no idea because she was incapacitated at the time of the rape,' the GOP firebrand, 47, told Congress. 'I knew she was raped because I accidentally found the video of her being raped. I found photos and video of her assault on Patrick Bryant's phone. 'One of Patrick Bryant's business associates, John Osborne, sexually assaulted her at the home of Eric Bowman. Patrick Bryant and Eric Bowman both had their phones out … filming her as she was being raped. 'She was completely laid out. There was no movement. There was no life. I couldn't tell if this young woman was alive.' Mace added: 'I would later learn that these men, the three of them, Patrick Bryant, Eric Bowman, and John Osborne, planned her rape. 'It was premeditated. Eric Bowman knew there were children in the home at the time of the rape, and he decided to orchestrate it anyway.' Bowman told DailyMail.com that Mace is referring to an incident that occurred at his Sullivan's Island, South Carolina home in the early hours of October 26, 2018 – but says it didn't go down as she claims. He had been to dinner the previous evening with Bryant, the woman, and Osborne, 44, who he says was her boyfriend at the time. Bowman and Osborne went their separate ways while the woman - whom DailyMail.com has decided not to name because she's allegedly the victim of sexual assault - went with Bryant to some local bars. At around 12:30am the pair arrived at Bowman's house and he says he led them towards the yard because the woman was being 'super loud'. According to his account, the woman – who appeared to be drunk - fell into the pool fully clothed. Bowman said he was happy to share two short videos of the episode exclusively with DailyMail.com to back up his version of events. The first shows the woman shrieking and laughing while she stands waist deep in water, with Bryant standing shirtless on the deck looking down at her with a phone in his hand. In the second clip she's seen walking away from the pool dripping wet, accompanied by Bryant, who dated Mace for 18 months prior to their December 2023 split. 'You can't plan a drunk woman falling in your pool and passing out on your couch,' Bowman insisted. Bowman said the woman went into a bathroom to use some towels to dry off. He said he then found her 'passed out' on the couch in just her bra so he called his wife Mellisa Britton, who was sleeping upstairs, to bring down some clothes and dress her. They called Osborne, currently on a leave of absence from the Charleston venture capital firm where he's a managing partner, to drive 45 minutes to come pick her up, according to Bowman's account. 'She walked inside by herself and went to dry off in the bathroom and put herself on the couch. She was fully coherent until she put herself to sleep,' he said. 'At some point her boyfriend comes and picks her up. That's it.' Further footage would have been captured by his indoor Nest security camera but only his wife, whom he's now estranged from, would have access to that, Bowman said. 'I haven't seen that video and it was seven years ago. But from what I remember he came to pick her up, he jumped on her fully clothed and tried to wake her up,' he reiterated. 'It's all on video and even the police say nothing happened. Why Nancy uses this is because going public with a fake story had the biggest bang. Nothing else happened they could reference.' Bowman said SLED asked him about another video from 2016 of Bryant having sex with a different woman, who DailyMail.com is also choosing to not identify. He said that encounter appeared to be completely consensual and that he wasn't aware of any incidents of abuse, trafficking or rape involving any of the men Mace has publicly accused. DailyMail.com reached out to the woman seen in Bowman's videos but she didn't respond to our approaches. Bowman, former owner of the Charleston Battery soccer team, told us he used to hang out with Mace from time to time while she was engaged to Bryant. Mace is now much closer to his estranged wife Melissa, 42, he added. Bowman told DailyMail.com he sent the Palmetto State politician a legal letter last year when he first caught wind that she was collecting 'evidence' of his supposed crimes. He's furious that she proceeded to use the legal protection afforded to House members to publicly accuse him without the threat of being sued for defamation if it was untrue. 'It feels profoundly unfair that an elected official entrusted with the public's trust can exploit her privileged position to and platform to spread lies while others have no similar opportunity to defend themselves,' Bowman added. Osborne did not respond to DailyMail.com but previously told The Post & Courier: 'The claims are categorically untrue and it is completely unfair to be looped into such accusations.' Musgrave, a 51-year-old software entrepreneur, issued a 'demand for action' letter Thursday via his lawyers, giving Mace 10 days to either produce evidence or apologize. 'You may view the floor of Congress as a sanctuary for slander. We do not,' wrote attorneys Eric Bland and Ronald Richter Jr. 'You upended Brian's life when you accused him falsely of being a rapist, a predator, and a sex trafficker. He is none of those things.' A spokesperson for SLED told DailyMail.com: 'SLED's investigation is active and ongoing. At this time, there is no additional information to provide.' Rep. Mace declined to comment.
