CAB Refuses To Allow Harsha Bhogle And Simon Doull In Eden Gardens Commentary Box
@Source: timesnownews.com
In a shocking development, the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB) has refused to allow commentators Harsha Bhogle and Simon Doull at Eden Gardens for any matches. According to a RevSportz report, CAB wrote to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), urging them to debar Bhogle and Doull from commentating at the Eden Gardens. The development came just ahead of Kolkata Knight Riders' home game against Gujarat Titans on Monday. CAB's move to ban Bhogle and Doull came after they criticised CAB pitch curator Sujan Mukherjee. Doul even suggested that KKR should consider moving out of Eden Gardens in the wake of the pitch row. The controversy erupted after the defending champions KKR complained about not getting the desired wicket that would suit their strengths, following their loss to Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) in their opening match of the season. KKR have top-quality spinners like Varun Chakravarthy and Sunil Narine in their ranks. But Eden Gardens' curator, Sujan Mukherjee, refused to toe the line of KKR. Bhogle and Doull criticized Mukherjee for revolting against KKR, a franchise that pays rental charges to CAB for using Eden Gardens as their home ground. CAB backed Mukherjee and wrote to the BCCI, stating that he has prepared the pitch following the rulebook, which states that no franchise can have a say on the nature of the pitch. Bhogle and Doull will not be present to commentate during the KKR vs GT game on Monday. However, it will be interesting to see whether the BCCI agrees with CAB or not. Eden Gardens is also scheduled to host the IPL 2025 final on May 25.
