Cameron Brink’s injury revelation on national TV; here’s what her coach said about her return

Los Angeles Sparks forward Cameron Brink continues her recovery from a major knee injury sustained during her rookie WNBA season. She suffered a torn ACL and meniscus in her left knee on June 18, 2024, just 15 games into her rookie WNBA season.Brink, who tore both her ACL and meniscus, has resumed on-court activities like non-contact drills. Sparks head coach Lynne Roberts confirmed that while Brink is progressing, no specific timeline has been set for her return.Brink spoke publicly about her injury on an episode of “Celebrity Wheel of Fortune” that aired June 3. There, she confirmed she tore both her ACL and her meniscus. She said both have been surgically repaired.The Sparks are cautious of her. Brink is progressing, but all activity remains non-contact. No scrimmages or live-game drills yet. Coach Roberts reiterated that it is too early to predict a return.Brink, the No. 2 overall pick in the 2024 draft, averaged 7.3 points and 5.3 rebounds per game when she went down. She also added around two blocks and one steal per contest.Brink also has plans outside the WNBA. She signed a multi-year deal with the Lunar Owls of the Unrivaled 3x3 basketball league. She won’t debut until 2026 while she continues rehab. Alongside her training, Brink is set to help with content creation for Unrivaled and lean on mentorship from her godbrother, NBA star Stephen Curry.Off the court, Brink has caught attention for her style. In late May, she appeared at a Sparks pregame event in a leopard-print outfit. Fans praised her as “The Golden Girl” and compared her to a supermodel. She shared she feels “great” and is thankful for the team's unfailing support.The Sparks organization and fans hope to see her back in 2025. However, good health and long-term strength remain the priority. No specific date yet. When Brink finally returns, she'll mark a full-circle moment in her rookie comeback story.The injury happened early in a game against the Connecticut Sun, ending her debut season and her hopes of playing in the 2024 Paris Olympics.
