CAS set date for Crystal Palace appeal against Europa League demotion
@Source: standard.co.uk
Crystal Palace will have their appeal against their Europa League demotion heard by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) on August 8.
The Eagles submitted an appeal against their demotion to the Conference League, a decision made by Uefa due to strict rules on clubs under the same ownership playing in the same competition.
John Textor, who owns 90 per cent of Lyon, had owned 43% of Palace until last week when his stake was sold to US businessman Woody Johnson for around £190m.
If Palace’s appeal is successful, either Lyon or Nottingham Forest, who replaced the Eagles in the Europa League, will be ejected.
An in-person appeal will be heard behind closed doors at the CAS headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, with a decision will be made on August 11.
