Celebs who starred on Love Island from Man Utd ace to sex tape nurse and 90s Britpop fave

It was the original show featuring sun, sea and sauce ! Tomorrow Love Island turns 20 and the first outing of the format featured a host of top celebrities from the Noughties. The ITV series – then called Celebrity Love Island – was hosted by Patrick Kielty and Kelly Brook and saw 13 stars looking for romance on the tropical island of Fiji. It disappeared from our screens after a second series, before being rebooted in 2015 as the ITV2 show we know today. Here JAMES MOORE reveals what happened to those debut contestants from staring in Lads Mags to making it in Hollywood. The TV star - who rose to prominence interviewing 90s BritPop stars - fell for footballer Lee Sharpe on the show, confessing to “never having felt like this before about someone.” But she was left lovelorn when he romanced co-star Abi Titmuss instead. But Jayne won the show with Fran Cosgrave and later won TV’s Celebrity MasterChef too. Now 54, she’s a radio host and big yoga fan. The Irish former Westlife bodyguard and nightclub owner won the show alongside Jayne. He’d later star in Calum, Fran and Dangerous Danan with his Love Island co-stars, as well as ITV’s I’m A Celeb. Now a DJ and producer, the 47-year-old has a son with his ex-girlfriend, Atomic Kitten singer Natasha Hamilton. A former nurse and girlfriend of TV star John Leslie, who appeared in a notorious sex tape, she would go on to date telly love match Lee Sharpe for two years. The lads’ mag model would also act in shows like BBC ’s Casualty, before moving to the US in 2014. Now 49 and known as Abigail Evelyn, she has a son with husband Ari Welkom, her co-star from soap Days Of Our Lives. The former Man Utd and England footballer would woo Jayne Middlemiss on the show but eventually date Abi Titmuss. He would go on to star in shows like Dancing on Ice and even Coronation Street , before briefly opening a sports bar in Spain. The 53-year-old is now married to Lucie Gardner and the couple have a son together. The Hollyoaks hunk was nicknamed ‘Dangerous Danan’ for his drunken antics and attempts at seduction on the show. He returned for the second series in 2006 and later appeared on shows like Celebrity Big Brother and Celebrity Coach Trip. But he also battled substance abuse and the dad-of-one tragically died earlier this year, aged 46, after taking a cocktail of drugs. Son of footballer George Best, he returned for the second series of the reality show, winning it alongside model Bianca Gascoigne, adopted daughter of footballer Paul Gascoigne. Now 44, he’s starred on multiple reality shows, jointly winning Celebrity SAS: Who Dares Wins and has also dated a string of famous women from pop star Sarah Harding to actress Lindsay Lohan. Finding fame after her alleged claim to have had an affair with David Beckham, which he denied, the ex-PA would go on to star in shows like The X Factor: Battle Of The Stars and also reveal she was bisexual. The 47-year-old is now a yoga teacher and shuns the limelight, living in Norway with her doctor husband Sven and their two sons. After the show, the Atomic Kitten singer won TV’s Celebrity MasterChef, hosted Hotter Than My Daughter and developed a stage career. Once engaged to Blue singer Lee Ryan, she wed Peter Cho in 2023. Now 44, the star has just announced that she’s pregnant with her first child. The EastEnders star, who played heartthrob Beppe Di Marco on the BBC soap, would go on to appear in TV’s Soapstar Superstar and Casualty as well as becoming a top poker player, raking in more than £1million in winnings. Now 54, he has recently become a father-of-two with partner Helen Harris. Younger sister of socialite Lady Victoria Hervey, the posh model and star of Channel 4’s The Games later appeared in Celebrity MasterChef. The 43-year-old has since become a personal trainer. She wed Belgian millionaire Christophe de Pauw in 2014. They have three children, but have since separated. A retired runner, who’d won a silver medal for TeamGB at the 1996 Olympics and appeared in BBC sports show Superstars, he’d go on to star as Predator on Sky’s revival of TV’s Gladiators in 2008. The 54-year-old failed to find romance on Love Island but is now a father-of-two. The Manchester-born actress was known for playing gangster’s wife Marjorie 'Precious' Hudson on Eastenders. First to be evicted from the villa, she’s gone on to star in movies such as The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 and Maleficent: Mistress of Evil. Now 43, she has a daughter called Lillie. The American Playboy model was a 33-year-old divorcee when she was brought in late to spice up the action. The star, now 53, went on to appear in other shows like the US version of I’m A Celeb and on Channel 4’s The Grill with Vernon Kay. She has a daughter, Tatum, with former beau Rick Reynolds.
