Celine Dion Warns Fans About Fake AI-Generated Songs Circulating Online

Celine Dion has issued a warning regarding AI-generated songs falsely attributed to her that are spreading across the internet.
In a statement posted on Instagram on Saturday, the Canadian singer alerted fans to the unauthorized use of her name, likeness, and musical performances in AI-generated content appearing on various digital platforms.
"It has come to our attention that unsanctioned, AI-generated music purporting to contain Celine Dion’s musical performances, and name and likeness, is currently circulating online and across various Digital Service Providers," she wrote. "Please be advised that these recordings are fake and not approved, and are not songs from her official discography."
While Dion did not specify any particular recordings, the growing use of artificial intelligence in music has sparked widespread debate in the industry.
In April 2024, over 200 artists—including Billie Eilish, Kacey Musgraves, J Balvin, Ja Rule, Jon Bon Jovi, the Jonas Brothers, Katy Perry, and Miranda Lambert—signed an open letter addressing AI-related threats. Organized by the non-profit Artist Rights Alliance, the letter urged AI developers, tech companies, and digital platforms to stop using artificial intelligence in ways that infringe on artists’ rights.
The letter highlighted concerns such as deepfakes, voice cloning, and AI-generated music being used to reduce royalty payments or train AI models without artists’ consent.
Dion, 56, recently reemerged in the public eye after stepping back from her career due to Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS), a rare neurological disorder that causes muscle rigidity, spasms, and heightened sensitivity to stimuli like sound and light. She first disclosed her diagnosis in December 2022 and has been undergoing extensive therapy, including vocal and physical training five days a week.
Her return to the stage was marked by a powerful performance at the Paris Olympics in July 2024, where she sang Edith Piaf’s classic Hymne à l’Amour from a platform atop the Eiffel Tower during the opening ceremony.
