Champions Trophy: Murali Vijay hails Varun Chakravarthy as 'world-class bowler'

Former Indian cricketer Murali Vijay has lauded Varun Chakravarthy's phenomenal show in the ongoing Champions Trophy. The mystery spinner has been India's key weapon, claiming seven wickets in two matches, including a five-wicket haul against New Zealand. His brilliant bowling has made him one of the top wicket-takers in the tournament. Ahead of India's final match in Dubai on Sunday, Chakravarthy's contributions are being acknowledged. Further praising Chakravarthy's unique bowling techniques, Vijay said, He is on the verge of becoming a world-class bowler in ODIs and T20Is because it is a very rare commodity to bowl the carrom balls and flippers and having that kind of control, which is fantastic to watch. The former opener's endorsement highlights Chakravarthy's potential in international cricket. The former cricketer also spoke about how Chakravarthy has developed as a player. He credited his growth to regular international exposure. He expressed hope for Chakravarthy's long-term presence in the Indian team, citing his relentless hard work and dedication. I feel it is a natural progress, like what I am talking now from the way I started... and now I've got that little bit of rhythm, so that's how life is, he said. Vijay also added that he was proud to see another cricketer from Tamil Nadu shine on the international stage. He is coming from my state and I am very proud that the Indian team is being filled with lot of talent. They are ready to go and perform at that level, he said. Vijay's words are a testament to his happiness for Chakravarthy's success and his contribution to Indian cricket. Vijay also praised Rohit Sharma's team for their high-level performance over the years. He said, The Indian cricket team is playing a great brand of cricket for over a number of years now and all the players are in form and looking fit. He was confident India would lift the Champions Trophy, given their unbeaten record in the tournament. The spinner has raced to eight ODI scalps at an average of 18.12. He boasts an economy rate of 4.83, and his best ODI figures are worth 5/42. As mentioned, seven of his wickets have come in the ongoing Champions Trophy.
