Conor Coady to Rangers transfer talks escalated as Russell Martin sets key timeline for Leicester City star
@Source: dailyrecord.co.uk
Rangers have ramped things up in their bid to land top target Conor Coady . The Light Blues are locked in advanced talks with Leicester City over a move for the former England international. The Ibrox side are pushing to get a deal done quickly, with Russell Martin ’s squad now back for pre-season. Martin wants new signings in and bedded before their Champions League qualifier with Panathinaikos next month. Coady still has a year left on his deal with the Foxes but is very much open to a move to Rangers . The 32-year-old would also be offered the security of a longer term deal if he was to make the switch to Ibrox. Record Sport broke the story that Rangers were keen to make one of their marquee signings this summer. New Ibrox sporting director Kevin Thelwell had previously signed him for Everton. Coady, who has 10 England caps, came through the ranks at Liverpool before he made his name at Wolverhampton Wanderers, where he went to Everton on loan. He moved to Leicester in 2023 and the Foxes are now looking to cut their wage bill after their relegation to the Championship. Rangers are also set to tie up a loan move for Max Aarons from Bournemouth and are also keen on Peterborough's Kwame Poku. Rangers can get Poke for a knockdown fee in a cross-border deal. There are also likely to be out-goings with FC Twente wanting Robin Propper and AEK after Cyriel Dessers although they are currently short of the Ibrox side’s valuation.
