Cork City and Celtic friendly set for July 8 at Páirc Uí Chaoimh

On Monday evening, the social media account of SuperValu Páirc Uí Chaoimh posted a ‘save the date’ for July 8, 2025. The post on X has since been retweeted by the official account of Celtic FC.
The maiden football game to be played at the venue was the 2018 Liam Miller fundraiser between a Republic of Ireland Legends selection and Celtic/Manchester United Legends selection.
Last June, the women's national team graced Páirc Uí Chaoimh with a 3-1 victory over France in the UEFA Nations League. The fixture was watched by a crowd of 18,399 spectators. Neither terrace was in use for that women’s game, which is unlikely to be the case for Celtic’s visit.
When Páirc Uí Chaoimh hosted the rugby clash of Munster and Crusaders this month last year, the fixture was worth between €150,000- €200,000 to a county board endeavouring to clear €31m of debt emanating from the redevelopment of Páirc Uí Chaoimh.
