Coronation Street fans were left 'feeling sick' as they watched the latest drama unfold as Rob Donovan tried to execute his getaway with brutal consequences. Fans of the ITV soap were aware that Rob was planning to do a runner from prison as he agreed to be a kidney donor for his sister, Carla Connor. Carla's younger sibling and the former fiancé of Tracy Barlow has been behind bars after being handed a life sentence for the murder of Tina McIntyre. It was then earlier this year that Carla's nephew Bobby Crawford who was seen bringing Rob back into the Underworld factor boss' life after several years after it was revealed she needed a kidney transplant, seven years after she last faced one, after contracting life-threatening sepsis. After eventually relenting and agreeing to see Rob before accepting him as a possible kidney donor if he was proved to be a match, Carla's partner DS Lisa Swain paid Rob a visit in hospital where he had been rushed to after suffering an allergic reaction to medication he's always been allergic to. With Carla sent on a wild goose chase in the hospital, Lisa was quick to realise that Rob is having an affair with prison guard Mandy and that the two of them are plotting his escape whilst he waits at the hospital to donate his kidney. Convincing Rob to go ahead with the operation, Lisa promised to try and get his conviction overturned. Carla later discovered Rob had been approved as a match for the donation and that they'd had a cancellation meaning the operation could take place the following day. Carla went to share the news was Rob and worried it was too soon. However, it was during Monday night's (February 17) trip to Weatherfield that Rob and Carla bother underwent their operations. When he woke, Lisa confirmed she would not go ahead with their deal, despite given Rob 'insurance' in the form of an audio recording confirming her plans. Furious with Lisa, Rob set about executing another plan which saw prison officer and Rob's secret partner Mandy sneak into Carla’s hospital room, put her in a wheelchair and said she'd use her gun if Carla didn't comply with her demands Mandy put Carla in another room and said they’d wait for Rob, who was seen in Lisa's car after stealing another officer’s clothes and sneaking out of the hospital himself. He ended up attacking Lisa as he realised she was attempting to make a phone call. Rob eventually made it to the room where Mandy and Carla were waiting. He was shocked to find out about Mandy's pregnancy and realising she had been used, she left. Rob attempted to follow suit but Carla found the energy to push her brother down the stairs and a weakened Rob as a result of his surgery saw him fall over the balcony, with Lisa finding him at the bottom. But Corrie fans were left upset to see Rob's attacking on Lisa and feared he wasn't actually dead and after spotting a gun close to his body, feared he could wake and use it. @_chandelierbing said: "Can’t even process all that.
