Cristiano Ronaldo Hints At Al-Nassr Exit: 'Chapter Is Over...The Story?'
@Source: news18.com
Portuguese football legend Cristiano Ronaldo suggested on Monday he might leave Al-Nassr, stating that a “chapter is over” just hours after the Saudi Pro League concluded. Ronaldo, 40, signed with Al-Nassr in 2022 after leaving Manchester United. His contract in Saudi Arabia ends this summer. A special transfer window is set from June 1-10, allowing the 32 clubs participating in the Club World Cup to sign new players. “This chapter is over,” Ronaldo mentioned cryptically on social media, accompanied by a photo of him in an Al-Nassr jersey. “The story? Still being written. Grateful to all,” added the former Real Madrid and Juventus star. This chapter is over.The story? Ronaldo ended the season as the league’s top scorer with 24 goals. Previously, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner had hinted at possibly ending his career with Al-Nassr. What Next For CR7? Cristiano Ronaldo might participate in the Club World Cup in the United States next month, as suggested by FIFA president Gianni Infantino, due to a unique transfer window created for the tournament. Though Al-Nassr did not qualify for the Club World Cup, Infantino hinted that Ronaldo could move to one of the 32 teams competing in the 11-city tournament starting on June 14. “Cristiano Ronaldo might play in the Club World Cup,” Infantino said on the online streamer IShowSpeed’s YouTube channel, which boasts over 39 million subscribers. “There are discussions with some clubs, so if any club is interested in hiring Ronaldo for the Club World Cup, who knows. There is still time; it will be fun.” FIFA confirmed on Wednesday that last-minute transfer signings from June 1-10 are open to all 32 Club World Cup teams, as their home football federations accepted the governing body’s offer to approve the exceptional trading window. This has fuelled speculation that one of these teams might sign the 40-year-old Ronaldo on a short-term deal, possibly a loan. Such a move would be unprecedented in modern football but could appeal to FIFA by enhancing the profile and boosting ticket sales of the inaugural 32-team tournament, which will next be held in 2029. Additionally, a transfer for Ronaldo would see him and Lionel Messi competing in the same tournament for the first time since the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. (With inputs from Agencies)
