In a clash against Esteghlal, Ronaldo and Duran on target to power Al Nassr to Champions League quarterfinals.
In the second leg of their AFC Champions League Round of 16 match, Al Nassr Club defeated Esteghlal 3-0 on Monday at King Saud University Stadium thanks to two goals from Jhon Duran and one from Cristiano Ronaldo.
In an attempt to win the championship for the first time, Saudi Arabia's Al Nassr advanced 3-0 overall and will be drawn to face their opponents in the quarterfinals.
The breakthrough came in the ninth minute when Duran simply lobed the ball over Esteghlal's keeper after taking advantage of a poor pass from Hossein Hosseini.
Five-time Ballon d'Or winner Ronaldo's perseverance paid off when he cut back to Sadio Mane after intercepting a poor back ball from Raphael Silva.
Mane was pulled down inside the penalty box by Mohammad Zobeir Niknafs, and Ronaldo scored the penalty kick.
In the last moments of the half, Mehran Ahmadi was sent off for a second yellow card for fouling Al Fatil, further hurting Esteghlal's chances of making it to the quarterfinals.
In the 84th minute, Duran, who had been on fire all night, rightfully ended the match by catching Angelo's pass within the six-yard box and hitting it into the bottom left corner.
