Crystal Palace vs Aston Villa prediction and odds ahead of FA Cup clash
@Source: birminghammail.co.uk
The FA Cup semi-finals kick-off this Saturday with a tantalising match between Crystal Palace and Aston Villa at the legendary Wembley Stadium. Crystal Palace, affectionately known as The Eagles, are riding high on the back of their recent 2-2 draw against Arsenal at the Emirates. Goals from Eberechi Eze and Jean-Philippe Mateta crucially handed over the Premier League title to Liverpool. In contrast, Villa experienced a gut-wrenching defeat at the hands of Manchester City just a day earlier. The elusive FA Cup has slipped through Palace's fingers twice before, with both final appearances in 1990 and 2016 resulting in losses to Manchester United. Villa, on the other hand, have a storied history with the tournament, having lifted the trophy a total of seven times. However, their last victory was back in 1957 when they bested United at Wembley. Since then, they've reached the final twice but were bested by Chelsea in 2000 and Arsenal in 2015. Betting enthusiasts are currently favouring Villa as the second most likely team to lift the trophy after last season's runners-up, Manchester City. The odds are set at 3/1 for Villa and 11/2 for Palace to finally secure their maiden FA Cup. The current season has already seen Palace and Villa lock horns three times. Palace came out on top twice, while their Premier League clash at Villa Park ended in a 2-2 draw. Their League Cup battle in Birmingham last October saw Palace claim victory with goals from Eberechi Eze and Daichi Kamada. Their most recent face-off was in February when Palace ran riot with a 4-1 win at Selhurst Park, thanks to goals from Ismaila Sarr, Jean-Philippe Mateta, and Eddie Nketiah. Villa has only experienced defeat three times since February 1st, racking up an impressive 12 victories in their last 17 matches. Palace, too, has been in good form, with only three losses and eight wins from their last 14 matches. This run of form has seen them climb to the 12th spot in the league, trailing Villa by five positions and 12 points. 18+ | Gamble responsibly | gambleaware.org | Odds subject to change Bookies CopyBet are offering new customers £60 free bets when they place a £20 qualifying bet.
