Darts star Gerwyn Price has jokingly claimed he could knock out YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul with just a single punch. "The Iceman," a former world darts champion and three-time Grand Slam winner, recently followed in the footsteps of fellow darts star Stephen Bunting by creating his own official YouTube channel. In an interview with talkSPORT, the 39-year-old was asked if he now sees himself as an 'influencer,' to which he responded: “I’m definitely not an influencer. I get bored easily, as you can see. When I had time off at the back end of last year, I got bored. So when I’m away, I’m going to try and fill in my time and probably record a bit of the backstage stuff, behind the scenes. “Giving a little bit back to the fans of what goes on behind the scenes because not everybody sees that, you know.” The conversation took a surprising turn when it was suggested that after reaching 100,000 subscribers on YouTube, it could mean a showdown with 'The Problem Child.' The Welshman was quick to laugh off the idea of taking on the 28-year-old, insisting: “That’s easy. I look forward to that. He’s a YouTuber; he’s not a fighter, is he? I’ve got 99,000 followers to go.” Regarding where the potential showdown would take place, the Principality Stadium in Cardiff was brought up. With a background in professional rugby union, it's fair to say that 'The Iceman' is certainly backing himself and believes Paul wouldn't dare travel to Wales for a potential boxing fight. “He’ll never beat me in Wales,” Price said confidently. "Nobody beats me in Wales. He’d probably beat Canelo (if they fought in Mexico), but he’s not beating me, no.” The 39-year-old played for the likes Neath and Cross Keys and even represented his beloved nation at various age groups growing up. He was also part of the Glasgow Warriors squad in the Pro12 league. When asked how a potential fight with Paul would play out if they went head-to-head, Price backed himself, replying: “I think it would just be one punch, and it would be all over. Out cold; it would be a waste of money for people to tune in.” Since making his professional debut back in 2020, Paul has taken the world of boxing by storm. The American has already defeated the likes of Anderson Silva, Nate Diaz and Tyron Woodley. His last victory came back in November against former heavyweight world champion, Mike Tyson. With a professional record of 11-1, his only defeat inside the ring came against Tommy Fury back in 2023. Having picked up the PDC World Championship in 2021, Price is widely-regarded as one of the best players in the world of darts. He has also tasted victory in the the World Grand Prix, the World Series of Darts Finals, and has secured three Grand Slam of Darts titles. The Welshman is one of the stars taking part in the Premier League this year, but lost his opening fixtures to Chris Dobey last week in Belfast. He'll be looking to get in the win column later this week when he faces Nathan Aspinall at the OVO Hydro in Glasgow.
