Right after the game, White fondly reflected on this achievement he achieved wearing a Celtics uniform, offering a warm credit towards an unlikely player for helping his shooting development — Golden State Warriors star big man Draymond Green. “What happened in the [2022] Finals and how I was being guarded on that stage, it was one of the lowest points. “I told Draymond after the [2024] Olympics that he kind of changed my life,” White said, per CLNS. “They weren’t guarding me, so I had to go into that summer, me and my trainer Marcus Mason, and just focus on being consistent, and from that point on I’ve been able to get better and better.” Since his shooting failure in 2022 Finals, White changed for the better for Boston A little-known late first rounder in 2017, White entered the NBA lacking such traits in consistently stretching the floor. He managed to hone his three-point shooting as years went by with the San Antonio Spurs. But in 2022, just when it mattered the most as he was playing his first NBA Finals for the Celtics, White struggle. After a 5-of-8 performance from the outside in their Game 1 victory, he proceeded from draining just five threes over the next 17 attempts en route to Boston’s eventual six-game title series collapse. Since then, White’s outside shooting progression has been off the charts. And this season, he is averaging 38.1 percent shooting from the three-point land out of a career-high 9.1 attempts per game. “We talked about it on the plane,” White said. “It’s pretty cool that there are three of us [Jayson Tatum and Sam Hauser] so close to doing something special. “Honestly, just looking back at my career, I never thought I’d be in this position. So I’m just thankful for the coaching staff, thankful for the guys on this team and I know I wouldn’t be able to do it without them.” Securing their ninth straight win, the work still continues for both White and the Celtics with seven games left on their regular season. They then head home and face the Miami Heat up next on April 2.
