Star Delhi bowler Digvesh Rathi, who was one of the star performers for the Lucknow Super Giants in IPL 2025, was on Sunday, July 6, sold for a whopping Rs 38 lakh to the South Delhi Superstarz in the Delhi Premier League auction ahead of the second season of the tournament. Notably, Digvesh was picked up for Rs 30 lakh by Lucknow in the IPL 2025 mega auction last year, a lower paycheck than his DPL salary for this season. There was intense demand for Digvesh after his brilliant IPL 2025 campaign, where he picked up 14 wickets in 13 games at an economy of 8.25 for Lucknow. There was concrete interest from Purani Dilli 6 during the bidding battle, but South Delhi went all out to keep hold of their star cricketer. Digvesh last played in the IPL in May, in Lucknow’s final group stage game against the Royal Challengers Bengaluru. As many as 520 players went under the hammer, with top picks including Digvesh, Simarjeet Singh (INR 39 lakh to Central Delhi Kings), Nitish Rana (INR 34 lakh to West Delhi Lions) and Prince Yadav (INR 33 lakh to New Delhi Tigers). South Delhi made a smart move ahead of the auction by retaining Ayush Badoni, a dynamic right-hander known for his ability to score quick runs and contribute with the ball when needed. Strengthening their team further, the team bagged Digvesh, who impressed everyone with his performances in the IPL 2025 season. The team later picked Aryaveer Kohli for Rs 1 lakh.
