Diplomats stood with Armed Forces during Israeli aggression on Iran: Araqchi

Araqchi made the remarks on Saturday while addressing deputies and directors of the Foreign Ministry during a meeting focusing on diplomatic measures taken during the Israeli-imposed war that began on June 13 and was joined by the United States nine days later. The meeting was attended by President Masoud Pezeshkian as well.
The war vividly demonstrated coordination between “the field and diplomacy,” Araqchi said in reference to strong cooperation between the Foreign Ministry and the Armed Forces who dealt a heavy military blow to the Israeli regime.
“The Armed Forces heroically defended the country against two armies, and alongside them, our diplomats worked around the clock,” Araqchi said, referring to the U.S. and Israeli militaries.
As a result of phone calls and efforts by Iranian embassies abroad, over 120 countries condemned the attacks against Iran and expressed their support and solidarity, he said.
Apart from the U.N. Security Council and the Board of Governors of the International Atomic Energy Agency (I.A.E.A.), no international organizations failed to support Iran, said the official.
He cited the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the Non-Aligned Movement, the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council, the Arab League, and the African Union, as well as many world leaders as having acknowledged the legitimacy of the Iranian people's stance in defending their country against foreign aggression.
Araqchi said that Iran was attacked while it was actively engaged in diplomacy and conducting negotiations with the U.S. over its nuclear program.
That, he noted, revealed who genuinely seeks to resolve international issues through diplomacy, and who resorts to force, coercion, and domination.
He also praised the Pezeshkian administration’s performance during the war, describing it as outstanding.
