MLS Game Ejects Season Ticket Holder for Wearing MAGA Hat, Yet Take a Look at What’s Permitted in the Stadium
@Source: internewscast.com
For anyone familiar with major league sports, it’s evident that sports media leans left, often just as much, if not more so, than mainstream media. Most people tune into sports to support their favorite teams and escape from the political world for a bit. However, in recent times, we’ve seen an ongoing display of actions like wearing BLM T-shirts and not standing firm on keeping biological men out of women’s sports.
Party politics has also seeped into sports media. And it is not hard to figure out which side many in professional sports are cheering for.
Man kicked out of a St. Louis City SC game for wearing a MAGA hat as pride flags fly.
How is this stadium funded? @realDonaldTrump, @HawleyMO, @Eric_Schmitt

The allegiance of Major League Soccer was revealed recently, and this hits home for me as a native St. Louisan. During a St. Louis City SC soccer match, Michael Weitzel, a dedicated season ticket holder, was escorted out by security for, you guessed it, wearing a MAGA hat. Weitzel captured the incident on video, which has since gone viral.

The story isn’t as simple as the video going viral, causing an uproar, and Weitzel being allowed back in with his MAGA hat. Let’s refer to the MLS fan Code of Conduct handbook, which states:
Displaying signs, symbols, images, using language or making gestures that are threatening, abusive, or discriminatory, including on the basis of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, gender, gender identity, ability, and/or sexual orientation
Displaying signs, symbols or images for commercial purposes or for electioneering, campaigning or advocating for or against any candidate, political party, legislative issue, or government action
According to the handbook, Weitzel did breach the rule. Yet, there’s a significant “but” here. If you glance at the opposite side of the stadium from where Weitzel sits, there are a plethora of rainbow Pride flags fluttering around. Weitzel questions the security guard about the Pride flags, to which the guard replies, “They’re pre-approved.” What exactly does that imply?

As Weitzel is exiting, the security guard claims he supports Trump but is obliged to enforce stadium policies. It seems the guard might be just as frustrated by this as Weitzel is. At one point, Weitzel inquires if he could stay for the rest of the game if he removes the hat but is bluntly told by someone other than the guard, “Nope, it’s too late. You’re outta here!”
The owners of St. Louis City SC provide a prominent example of liberal hypocrisy for everyone to witness. Let’s sum it up: In St. Louis, a predominantly blue city, you can display Pride flags at a stadium all day long, yet a single individual with a MAGA hat is deemed too risky. Two points the club’s owners should consider before more people view the video: Pride flags, like it or not, are as political as MAGA hats. Secondly, as basketball legend Michael Jordan might have once remarked, “Republicans buy sneakers too.”
In this case, Republicans buy season tickets to St. Louis City SC matches, too, even this season with their less-than-stellar record. But maybe not for long.
A man got kicked out of a @stlCITYsc game last night for wearing a MAGA hat. Security said they don’t allow political paraphernalia. Man then asked security what’s up with the constant pride flags and trans banners at the games. They didn’t like that either. pic.twitter.com/t0ZZ8b1QxF
