It's the musical that brought attention to the story behind the creation of Barnum & Bailey Circus, and now it is set to be a hit stage show as Disney begins a nationwide search for the cast of The Greatest Showman.
The new stage adaptation of The Greatest Showman, based on the 2017 smash-hit film will premiere at the Bristol Hippodrome in Spring 2026 and Disney are bringing the search for the next Hugh Jackman and Michelle Williams to Belfast.
The musical will feature the GRAMMY Award-winning and Academy Award-nominated songs by Emmy, GRAMMY, Oscar, and Tony winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (La La Land, Dear Evan Hansen, Disney's forthcoming film Snow White), including “The Greatest Show”, “A Million Dreams”, “Come Alive”, “Rewrite the Stars” and the Golden Globe Award-winning “This Is Me”, together with their brand new songs written especially for the musical. The book is by Emmy nominee Tim Federle (Ferdinand, High School Musical: The Musical: The Series, Tuck Everlasting).
The Greatest Showman will be directed and choreographed by two-time Tony Award-winning Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon, Disney's Aladdin, Mean Girls and the forthcoming production of Disney's Hercules, opening at Theatre Royal Drury Lane in June).
As part of the search for the cast of The Greatest Showman, the Disney team will be in Belfast on Sunday, March 23, holding auditions for singers/actors and contemporary dancers.
Those auditioning are asked to prepare a cut version (36 bars) of two pop or contemporary musical theatre songs. Disney also requests that they bring sheet music as a pianist will be provided.
Meanwhile, those participating in the dance auditions are asked to wear dance clothing, trainers, or jazz shoes. The creative team say that acrobatic skills are a significant plus but not essential. Dancers may be asked to sing during your audition and are asked to prepare a short pop song with the sheet music.
Auditions will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis with registration for Belfast auditions closing on 20th March. Registration details can be found here.
