Donald Trump insults Britain’s brave war heroes by claiming America 'won' the world wars

Deluded Donald Trump was slammed for insulting Britain’s brave war heroes by claiming America “won both” the First and Second World Wars. Ahead of VE Day on Thursday , the US president bragged that the US did the most to win the historic battles. He wrote on his Truth Social platform: “Many of our allies and friends are celebrating May 8th as Victory Day, but we did more than any other Country, by far, in producing a victorious result on World War II. “I am hereby renaming May 8th as Victory Day for World War II and November 11th as Victory Day for World War I. We won both Wars, nobody was close to us in terms of strength, bravery, or military brilliance, but we never celebrate anything — That’s because we don’t have leaders anymore, that know how to do so!” Last night there was a backlash over his comments. And many pointed to the fact that Trump himself received five deferments during the height of the Vietnam War. Four were for education and one was a ‘medical waiver’ after his graduation. Richard Palusinski, chairman of The Spirit of Normandy Trust which supports veterans, said yesterday: “It was a massive effort by all of the allies. “Had they not pulled together the chances of success would have been less. “He [Trump] is so focused on American primacy, he misses some of the facts. “The Americans joined both wars later on, they put in a lot of effort but so did the other countries with a lot of sacrifice.” And one critic fumed on X: “ Donald Trump , now self-declared Supreme Historian of Earth, has unilaterally renamed global memory — because nothing says ‘Victory’ like rewriting international consensus from a golf cart in Mar-a-Lago. “The man who dodged drafts now hands out medals to himself, retroactively. Because when facts don’t fit the ego, rename the calendar.” Another wrote the ex-Apprentice host’s remarks were “straight-up clown show material”. They said: “TRUMP claiming the U.S. single-handedly won World War II? Laughable. “Bruh, the Allies—Soviets, Brits, Australians, French Resistance, and more—bled for that W. The U.S. helped but acting like they did it solo is delusional.” The Daily Star recently reported that Donald Trump's national security adviser Mike Waltz and his deputy Alex Wong are set to leave their posts in the White House, according to multiple sources.
