Swire Shipping Fijian Drua head coach Glen Jackson is anticipating a good match against Highlanders on Saturday.
The Drua were defeated at home by the Crusaders, 14-31, at the HFC Bank Stadium, Suva.
It was their third consecutive loss following their win against Chiefs in the Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific Round 4.
When asked of his expectation of the Highlanders, Jackson said:
“Good game of rugby. It’s what we’re hoping.
“I’ve said it many times, its been a three year progression for this young men in this team. The pressure they are on sometimes means that we’re trying to force a few things that we just don’t get into our rhythm of how we want to play.
“I think previously it hasn’t been as much pressure as there is on them now,” he added.
They will play the Highlanders at Forsyth Barr Stadium, Dunedin at 7:05pm.
“Our job as a coaching team is to make sure that they don’t feel the pressure and they can actually play with the freedom that they want to. Maybe at times we put too much on them, but I think I think the Highlanders is looking forward to a game down there in Dunedin under their roof.”
Jackson indicated the Crusaders’s was a star side with All Blacks players including Codie Taylor, Will Jordan, George Bower, Ethan Blackadder, Noah Hotham and Sevu Reece.
“We have lost two major games, but unfortunately I thought the Crusaders played well, they knew how to slow the game down.
“I thought they managed the game very well. They’ve got a lot of All Blacks. Our boys tried really hard. We probably didn’t hang on to the ball.
“Second half I thought we came out and showed what we were about for parts of it and just couldn’t do it for 80 minutes. It’s unfortunate that was the case.
“We just didn’t get the victory, so that’s the analysis sort of it. Look, I thought we prepared well. It’s always hard to come off a loss like we did in Perth. We certainly tried to put it into place what we wanted to do today in the game and unfortunately we just didn’t get quite uh the stuff that we wanted to do.
He added that they also kicked well.
“I think you realised how much it meant to the Crusaders. They put a lot of time put into this, there were even reports around the jersey they wore and what it meant coming to Fiji.
“They knew this was a massive game that you could even see afterwards how much it meant them to win this game.”
