Fijian Drua forwards Vilive Miramira and Mesake Vocevoce declared their interest to represent the Flying Fijians to the 2027 Rugby World Cup in Australia by re-signing their contract with the club. They have extended their stay right up to 2027. Miramira represented the Flying Fijians at the 2023 RWC in France while Vocevoce stepped into the limelight during last year’s Shop N Save Super Rugby Pacific competition. They are currently members of the Flying Fijians squad under head coach Mick Byrne. Drua general manager rugby, Baden Stephenson said the club is thrilled to have Vilive and Mesake extending their stay for a further two seasons. “Both players suit the way Super Rugby is being played at the moment as they bring complimentary skills, physicality and athleticism to our team,” Stephenson said. Miramira, 26, has been a foundation player of the Drua, having been with the club since its inaugural season in 2022. He has made 36 appearances to date, scoring three tries. His utility in the middle and back row earned him a spot in the 2023 RWC with the Flying Fijians. “I’m grateful and blessed to sign again with the Drua for the next few years and it’s a great club, means a lot to me and my family,” Miramira said. “I hope to make the club proud and I know the club has got a lot to offer in the future.” Vocevoce, 21, has made 24 appearances in just two seasons with the Drua. He has quickly become an integral part of the squad since his debut, featuring regularly in the Match day 23. The young star from Narewa, Nadi was the Pepsi Rookie of the Year during the annual Fiji Airways Drua Awards in 2024, and got his first Drua try in last weekend’s 36-33 win over the Queensland Reds. Vocevoce has amassed eight Flying Fijians test caps since making his debut against Tonga in 2024. Feedback: waisean@fijisun.com.fj
