Elton John reveals he ‘can’t watch TV, read or see his sons playing sports’ in heartbreaking health update

ELTON John has revealed the "distressing" impact of his battle with blindness as he admitted he "can't read" or see his kids play.
It came just days after The Sun exclusively reported how the ailing star, 78, can no longer sign autographs.
Pop legend Elton lost vision in his right eye in July after contracting an infection on holiday in the South of France, and at the time admitted his left eye is “not the greatest."
Now the Tiny Dancer hitmaker has told of the impact of his condition, and told an interviewer from The Times: "I can see you, but I can't see TV, I can't read.
"I can't see my boys playing rugby and soccer, and it has been a very stressful time because I'm used to soaking it all up."
Elton and husband David Furnish, 62, share sons Zachary, 14, and Elijah, aged 12.
Too Low For Zero singer Elton added of his blindness: "It's distressing. You get emotional, but you have to get used to it because I'm lucky to have the life I have.
"I still have my wonderful family, and I can still see something out of here [his left eye.]
"So you say to yourself, just get on with it."
ONGOING BATTLE
In December, Elton said he was unable to watch his new musical version of The Devil Wears Prada.
At the time, he said: “I haven’t been able to come to many of the previews because, as you know, I have lost my eyesight.
"But I love to hear it.”
And interviewed on Good Morning America he added of his condition: “It kind of floored me, and I can’t see anything.
“I can’t read anything, I can’t watch anything.”
“I can do something like this [interview] but going into the studio and recording, I don’t know, because I can’t see a lyric for start.”
Pals have now urged him to "slow down" amid further fears for his wellbeing.
Previously, Elton joked how there is “not much left” of him following joint replacement surgeries and the removal of his tonsils, appendix and prostate.
The legendary singer — who has also been diagnosed with Type 2 -diabetes and has had one hip and two knees replaced — was supposed to take it easy after his stamina- defying, 330-date Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, which ended in 2023.
He recently expressed fears he will not live long enough to see his boys Zachary and Elijah marry.
Insiders reckon he needs to ease up if he is going to survive to witness those happy events.
A source told The Sun: “Elton’s friends are seriously concerned about how much he has taken on and believe it is having a major impact on his health.
“Quite a few people who he is close to have now encouraged him to slow down because he has been busier than ever this year."
Elton always had an incredible work ethic, releasing 13 albums between 1970 and 1975.
