Exact Man City points tally predicted as Champions League race takes fresh twist
@Source: manchestereveningnews.co.uk
A supercomputer has predicted who will finish in the top four of the Premier League this season. After a wildly disappointing start to the campaign, Pep Guardiola will be determined to transform Manchester City's fortunes in the final nine games . The English champions are currently fifth in the table; they're one point behind Chelsea in fourth, six adrift of Nottingham Forest in third and ten from Arsenal in second. Liverpool have headed into the international break at the top of the Premier League with a 12-point cushion. While City will be looking to leapfrog their rivals they're not alone in the race for Champions League qualification, which took a fresh twist after Saturday's 2-2 draw at home to Brighton. Just four points separates Guardiola's side from Bournemouth in tenth, sandwiching Newcastle United, Brighton, Fulham and Aston Villa. So, with that being said, the Manchester Evening News has looked at what impact the weekend's results have had on The Analyst's supercomputer. Despite dropping crucial points to Nottingham Forest and Brighton this month, Man City have been tipped to finish fourth with just 66 points . It's said that the reigning champions have a 58 per cent chance of securing qualification to the Champions League via their league position. Liverpool have been backed to snatch Man City's crown, ending the campaign on 89 points , with Arsenal missing out in second on 77 points. The Analyst's supercomputer has predicted Forest to finish third, with 68 points, while Chelsea have been tipped to fall out of the top four and drop to sixth, ending the season on 63 points. After defeating Liverpool in the Carabao Cup final, Eddie Howe has been backed to capitalise on Newcastle United's success. The Magpies are predicted to climb into fifth, with just one point separating them from Enzo Maresca's side. After the weekend's defeat to Arsenal, The Analyst's have tipped Brighton to finish in seventh (61), Aston Villa in eighth (58), Bournemouth in ninth (57) and Fulham in tenth (56). Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are nowhere to be seen, both tipped to finish in the bottom half of the table. Nevertheless, with so much up for grabs, Guardiola has issued a call to arms, claiming Man City have 'nine finals left'. "Nine games, nine finals. It looks like it [will go down to the last day]," Guardiola told the club website after the 2-2 draw to Brighton on Saturday. "Nine games still until the end of the season. We have tough games. "It was quite similar to Nottingham Forest. Okay, we didn’t lose. "The goal was not good enough but it will be [tight] until the end. "Next game Leicester here and then Old Trafford but first Bournemouth in the FA Cup ."
