The Scotland side is aware of the challenge ahead of Saturday’s clash. These were comment of Scotland flanker Jamie Ritchie following their first training session at Albert Park, Suva yesterday. The Scots lost, 22-27, when the Fiji Water Flying Fijians hosted them at the HFC Bank Stadium in 2017. Now, fresh off a narrow win over Maori All Blacks they touched down on Sunday night at Nausori International Airport. “It’s been amazing. The Fijian Army gave us a really warm welcome—it was very cool. For many of the boys, it’s their first time in Fiji,” said Ritchie. “We watched parts of the game (Fiji v Australia) at the airport and more at the hotel. It was a really close and exciting match. We know Fiji is a serious threat.” With deep respect for Fiji’s style of play, Ritchie empahsised the need to be prepared for both physicality and flair. “They love running rugby. They’re extremely skillful and very physical. I’ve played with Bill (Viliame) Mata and I know exactly what he can do—we’ll be trying to stay away from him” he said. Ritchie also noted that there are no major injury concerns in the camp and the squad is adapting well to the tropical conditions and cultural setting. “Everyone’s been saying ‘Bula!’ to us wherever we go.
