Torrox has introduced the first beach soccer school in Malaga province. The initiative was presented by Mayor Óscar Medina, who highlighted the town’s facilities. “We have some of the best pitches in Spain and Southern Europe. This school will help develop future talent.”
The new school will operate under the guidance of Club Deportivo Arena Torrox. Training sessions will take place four times a week at the Ferrara sports complex: Mondays and Tuesdays at 5:00 p.m. and on weekends at 12:00 p.m.
Sports councilor José Manuel Fernández stressed the municipality’s decade-long commitment to hosting high-level beach sports events. He noted that Torrox has already welcomed beach soccer, beach volleyball, and will host a CrossFit competition in April.
Fernández also praised the role of Alexandre J. Soares, director of Club Deportivo Arena Torrox. The four-time world champion with Brazil’s beach soccer team is now leading the academy. “Our men’s and women’s teams have reached the highest national level thanks to his expertise.”
Torrox will host Spain’s national beach soccer team for a training camp from April 21 to 25. The town will also be a venue for the National Beach Soccer League in June and July and will host a youth provincial championship in June.
Soares explained the school’s philosophy, pointing out social inclusion. “We welcome all children and young players who want to train and improve. Beach soccer helps with both physical and mental development,” he said.
