Moises Caicedo could return for Chelsea (Picture: Getty) Chelsea will look to book their spot in the Club World Cup final with a victory over Fluminense in Tuesday’s semi-finals. Enzo Maresca’s side squeezed past Palmeiras with a 2-1 victory in the quarter-finals and face off against Brazillian opponents again in the final four. Fluminense boast former Chelsea defender Thiago Silva in their ranks and are yet to lose a game all tournament, with victories over Inter Milan and Al-Hilal already in the knockout stages. While representing a lengthy add-on to what was already an arduous season for Maresca’s side, the Blues will be acutely aware of the riches on offer should they go all the way and become the inaugural winners of the expanded competition. The winner of Tuesday’s semi-final will face off against either Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain in Sunday’s final. Chelsea head coach Enzo Maresca (Picture: Getty) Heading into the semi-finals, Maresca rejected the suggestion that his side were favourites to reach the final and said his side would have to be wary of the threat posed by their Brazilian opponents. ‘No, I don’t think that Chelsea is the favourite. You said it,’ Maresca said in his pre-match press conference. ‘I don’t think that Chelsea is the favourite. I think that at this point, there is no favourite. ‘At this point, the teams that have come here, it’s because they deserve it, because they have something good, and they have to do everything to try to win and get to the final. ‘They have a very good coach, with experience, they have quality players, Arias, Cano, there are a lot of players who are good players, and at this point in the tournament, I think that any game is going to be very difficult, because the competition is coming to an end.’ For more stories like this, check our sport page.
