Former EastEnders star James Bye enjoyed a ‘belated’ anniversary trip with his wife Victoria Bye and ‘away from the madness’. After 11 years playing Martin Fowler on the BBC soap, James' beloved character passed away at the end of the show's 40th anniversary week in a special live episode in February. James can currently be found on stage playing the iconic role of Mr Darcy in Death Comes to Pemberley, a sequel to Jane Austin's classic novel Pride and Prejudice. Away from his acting ventures, James shares four young children with Victoria; Edward, ten, Louis eight, Hugo, five and one-year-old Rufus. Tying the knot in 2012 after meeting nearly 20 years ago, James and Victoria often bring their fans inside their lives on their family’s Instagram account Life with the Byes. Taking to the account on Thursday (May 22), Victoria reflected on her and James’ recent trip to Foxhills Club & Resort, located in Surrey. “Did someone say belated anniversary treat? Yep, when the lovely folks @foxhillssurrey asked us to come and give an honest hotel review – just the two of us – well, I couldn’t pack my bags quick enough! “Coupled with the fact that we’re both absolutely cream crackered and James was in need of some serious TLC after feeling more than a little sorry for himself due to a run in with a bee (who knew he was allergic? A lengthy dose of antibiotics and the poor fella still couldn’t walk on his cankles for a week)... “After all that. Off we went. Only - not quite. I kid you not as our bags were slung in the boot and we happily skipped out of the door waving cheerio to super nana (left holding the fort, god bless her, toddlers and incontinent dogs – not for the faint hearted) – the car then decided it had other plans,” she said. Eventually getting their car to work through jump leads, Victoria said that ‘it was worth the wait’ as she revealed some of things they got up to. She continued: “Not only did the weather play ball. But the hotel itself is just dreamy. Like something out of Bridgerton slap bang in the middle of a championship golf course. (Cue all the longing gazes from the hubby). “There were heated outdoor pools, hot tubs, and a gym I admired from afar, er, I mean – the bar. We wined and dined and just had a bit of much needed us time. Away from the hubbub of 4 boys and all the madness and day to day shenanigans… “That being said, if you wanted to take your kids – it’s like a kiddy paradise. Soft play, swimming, golf, park and most importantly – a creche, all right there on your doorstep.” Calling it ‘hotel goals’, Victoria concluded the post by acknowledging that the next time they go there their ‘kids will be in tow’ with them. In pictures shared in the post, including two of both members of the marriage in the pool, James could be seen sporting his new mutton chops that he’s grown for his latest project.
