A top college football broadcaster is reportedly stepping away from the booth. Brock Huard, an analyst on Fox’s No. 2 broadcast team, revealed this week that he is leaving the network to help coach his son, Titus, as he goes through high school. “I’m going to be the tight ends coach at Valor Christian High School,” Huard said on the Real Hawk Talk podcast, noting he’s working for Mike Sanford, a former offensive coordinator at Notre Dame, Boise State, Minnesota, and Colorado. Huard, a former Washington quarterback also played in the NFL for the Seahawks and Colts, joined Fox from ESPN in 2019. He has been paired with Tigers broadcaster Jason Benetti, typically calling one of the biggest games of the week. RELATED: College football’s longest-tenured game analyst to retire after 2025 season Huard also works on UFL games and is a cohost of Brock and Salk on Seattle Sports 710 AM, but those gigs are taking a back seat to family obligations. At least for now. “I’d like to still do (broadcasting) down the road, but for these years, these formative years, my son’s gonna be a sophomore,” Huard said. “These are years I’ll never, ever, ever get back. And I’m gonna jump into it.” Huard added that he thinks coaching will make him a better broadcaster and radio host in the future because he will be increasing his football knowledge and gaining new perspective. It’s unclear who will be replacing Huard in the announce booth. Names floated by Awful Announcing include his Fox colleague and former USC quarterback Mark Sanchez, Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III, who was fired by ESPN, and ex-Lions quarterback Dan Orlovsky, whose future with ESPN is murky.
