The funeral details for two teenagers, who tragically lost their lives in separate weekend crashes in Northern Ireland over the weekend, have been released.
Órán McConville, 18 and from Rathfriland, Co Down, was in the front of a car which crashed near Hilltown on Saturday. Police received a report of a grey coloured Volkswagen Golf which had been involved in a collision on the Kilkeel Road in Hilltown at around 2am.
Emergency services attended but the teenager was pronounced dead at the scene. Police confirmed the 18-year-old driver of the car was arrested following the fatal collision but has since been released on bail pending further enquiries.
Órán’s sad death comes just six weeks after the passing of his father, Paddy on February 21, and 16 years since the heartbreaking loss of his sister, Rachael. Órán is survived by his mum Amanda, brother Shéa, grandmother Bridie McDonald, grandfather Paddy Francis McConville, uncles, aunts, cousins, wider family circle and friends.
Órán, was a member of Drumgath GAA Club, which has led tributes to a young man who was "a bright light" in the local community. He was a past pupil at St Mark’s High School in Warrenpoint which also expressed devastation at his untimely passing.
His remains are reposing at his late home; 60 Lurgancahone Road, Rathfriland. Those wishing to pay their respects can do so from 1pm - 8pm on Monday and Tuesday. Removal on Wednesday at 1.30pm for 2pm Requiem Mass in St. Patrick’s Church, Drumgath. Burial afterwards in the adjoining cemetery.
Separately Morgan Henry, 18 and from the Tandragee area, passed away following a two vehicle crash near Portadown at around 1.40am on April 6. The crash on the Dungannon Road involved a blue BMW 330 and a red Vauxhall Corsa.
Morgan, the driver of the Corsa, was sadly declared deceased at the scene by emergency services. Four occupants of the BMW received medical treatment following the collision.
Morgan was the son of Lauren and Gareth, brother of Reuben and Cherith, grandson of Caroline and Colin Whitten and David and the late Doris Henry, great-grandson of Kenny and Eleanor Matchett and also boyfriend of Lara.
His former football club, Tandragee Rovers Football Club, posted a tribute to the young man alongside Tandragee Primary School, which remembered Morgan as "a capable, fun loving and well-liked young man."
His funeral service will also take place on Wednesday at 2pm in Mullavilly Parish Church with committal following in the adjoining graveyard.
PSNI Collision Investigation Unit detectives are investigating the circumstances of both collisions and would like to hear from witnesses or anyone who may have captured dash-cam or other footage which could assist with their enquiries.
