Giannis Antetokounmpo says he was disrespected by Tyrese Haliburton’s father: ‘I’ve won the championship. They haven’t’

After Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks were eliminated Tuesday night by the Indiana Pacers, Giannis got into a heated confrontation with Tyrese Haliburton’s father.
As the Pacers were celebrating Haliburton’s go-ahead layup with 1.3 seconds left in overtime that gave them a series-clinching 119-118 victory John Haliburton walked toward the Bucks star waving a towel and swearing at him.
“I believe (in) being humble in victory. That’s the way I am,” Antetokounmpo said after the game. “Now, there can be a lot of people out there that are like, no when you win the game you got to talk (stuff) and it’s a green light for you to be disrespectful toward somebody else.
“I disagree. I’ve won the championship. They haven’t.”
Giannis and John Haliburton had to be separated after coming nose-to-nose.
“Coming in the floor and showing me his son’s towel, with (Haliburton’s) face (saying) ‘this is what we do. This is what we F’ing do. This the F we do,’ .... I feel like that’s very, very disrespectful,” Antetokounmpo said.
“I’m happy for him, I’m happy for his son, and I’m happy that he’s happy for his son,” Antetokounmpo later added. “That’s how you’re supposed to feel. But coming to me and disrespecting me and cursing at me I think is totally unacceptable, totally unacceptable.”
John Haliburton apologized via social media after the game.
“I sincerely apologize to Giannis, the Milwaukee Bucks and the Pacers organization for my actions following tonight’s game,” he wrote. “This was not a good reflection on our sport or my son and I will not make that mistake again.”
After winning the NBA championship in 2021 and then losing in the second round in 2022, the Bucks have now lost in the first round three straight years.
It appears their championship window has closed with the Celtics, Cavaliers, Pacers, Knicks and Pistons on the rise in the East.
There is widespread speculation that Giannis could ask to be traded, with betting odds already having the Brooklyn Nets and Houston Rockets as the favorites should he opt to do so.
Carlos Boozer also mentioned the Miami Heat and L.A. Lakers as teams that would benefit by adding Giannis.
