A teenager came close to suffering brain damage when she was jumped on by a group of schoolgirls, her mum has said.
Olivia Allan, 13, was attacked by a group of girls on her way back from school in Morecambe, Lancashire.
She was left with chipped teeth, injuries to her back and neck and bruises on her legs in the attack on Monday afternoon.
The ending could have been even worse if a stranger hadn’t intervened, her mum fears.

Doctors told her further blows to her head could have left her with lasting damage, the MEN reports.
A 12-year-old girl has now been arrested on suspicion of assault following the incident on Moss Lane.
Olivia was ambushed by a gang of four girls on a path before they ‘kicked her head like a football, stamped on her face and put a tooth through her lip,’ her mum Keighley Marie said.
To make matters worse, the attack was filmed and footage circulated on social media, showing one of attackers climbing on Olivia’s back before she was hit on the face.
Her mother, who is a mental health nurse, said: ‘It’s every parent’s worst nightmare. I was at work in Lancaster when I got a call about what had happened and it was obviously school time so there was traffic and I was in an absolute frenzy trying to get to her.
‘It just felt like it went on forever. The consultant in A&E said that if she had taken any more blows to the head, she could have been permanently brain damaged.’
The stranger who stopped to help was walking with her own daughter when she witnessed the incident, and Keighley says without her ‘it could have been fatal.’
The woman managed to restrain one of the suspects, called the police and waited alongside injured Olivia until help arrived.
Now, the teenager is trying to rebuild her life and recover physically, but ‘what she’s experienced mentally with the trauma is going to be a much longer process,’ Olivia’s mum explained.
The ‘horrendous’ ‘trauma’ has affected the entire family, she continued.
‘I’ve had to be prescribed sleeping tablets, I’ve been signed off work and I don’t go outside. I’ve also got two other children to try and care for. It just feels like an injustice,’ she added.
The police confirmed it received a report of an assault on Moss Lane at about 3.40pm on Monday and a teenage girl was taken to hospital after she suffered injuries.
