Westfield’s Lily Patel ended Millburn’s Ysabel Liu’s bid for a repeat at the Essex/Union County Tournament as she won a playoff hole to capture the individual title at Francis Byrne Golf Course in West Orange. The duo battled until the final hole, but Patel’s birdie on six tied things up at 6-under-par 64. This marked Patel’s second tournament win of the season after winning the Union County Championships on April 22. Despite coming up short individually, Liu was a part of a Millburn squad that finished first with a 337, beating out Kent Place by 22 strokes. Westfield came in third place with a 366, while Oak Knoll was fourth with a 392. Mount St. Dominic rounded out the top five with a 425. Arya Parikh of Livingston placed third with a 78, while Kent Place’s Annette Hickey finished fourth with a 79. Alexis Lee (Newark Academy) and Sanaya Joshi (Millburn) tied for fifth with an 84.
