Cane Bay High School senior Claire Orth is the eighth annual Best of Prep Sports girls soccer player of the year.
The Citadel soccer commitment is one of the best goal-scorers in the Lowcountry and also an academic standout, sporting a grade-point average over 4.00. Orth also excelled in cross country and was named the school’s homecoming queen in the fall.
Through 14 games this spring, Orth led the Cobras to a 10-4 record by finding the back of the net 16 times while also dishing out four assists. In her last match before press time, Orth tallied four goals in a Region 7-5A victory against Stratford.
Orth is a multi-time all-region selection in both cross country and soccer and member of the National Beta Club.
