Ross King has been unveiled as the 13th celebrity contestant for the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing.
The announcement came during a live segment on Friday’s Lorraine, when the show’s own Los Angeles correspondent revealed he would be swapping Hollywood for the ballroom.
On joining Strictly Come Dancing, King shared: “From the bright lights of Hollywood to the glittering ballroom - it’s a dream come true to be part of such an iconic show.
“I can’t wait to learn from the best, meet my fellow contestants, and, most importantly… try not to step on too many toes!
“Let’s give this the best that I can! As my mum always said: ‘You’ll never know till you give it a go!’”
King is a familiar face to ITV viewers, appearing daily on Good Morning Britain and Lorraine.
Over his career, he has hosted more than 30 television series, beginning with his first radio broadcast at just 15 and TV debut at 17.
In the US, he served as Entertainment Anchor for Los Angeles’ KTLA for six years, earning four News Emmys and a Golden Mic Award.
Honoured with an MBE in 2018 for his services to broadcasting, the arts and charity, King has also co-authored three novels with Shari Low — The Rise, The Catch and The Fall — and has written for television comedies, stage plays, and films.
King’s involvement with the series comes after former Apprentice star Thomas Skinner, Neighbours actor Stefan Dennis and Vicky Pattison announced they would be joining the line-up.
Pattison, who first found fame on Geordie Shore but has since carved out a successful career as a presenter, admitted she was “terrified” of joining the series.
She said: “I’m absolutely buzzing to be part of this year’s Strictly Come Dancing lineup… but I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t terrified.
“I am not a natural dancer! However, it’s such an amazing opportunity for me to step out of my comfort zone and to challenge myself in a completely new way, and I just really hope I don’t make too much of a fool of myself!”
The TV star will join the likes of podcast host and YouTube star George Clarke, RuPaul’s Drag Race UK finalist La Voix, former England rugby player Chris Robshaw, and model and CBBC actress Ellie Goldstein, who is to become the first contestant with Down’s syndrome to take part in Strictly’s full series.
The line-up is completed by Love Island winner Dani Dyer-Bowen, EastEnders actress Balvinder Sopal, Gladiators star Harry Aikines-Aryeetey, Doctor Who actress Alex Kingston, and former footballer Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink.
Strictly Come Dancing returns this September on BBC and BBC iPlayer
