Gorka Marquez has said he is 'so excited' as he made a big announcement to fans, with the news seeing him go up against his fiancée Gemma Atkinson. It was announced on Tuesday (March 11) that Soccer Aid for UNICEF will be returning to Greater Manchester, with the charity football match set to take place on Sunday, June 15, and Manchester United's beloved home of Old Trafford . And while Gemma and Gorka are very much a happy family with their two children in tow, the couple are set to get competitive this summer as it was announced dancer Gorka will be joining the World XI as a player. Meanwhile, Hits Radio host Gemma will be taking on an ambassador role for the England side in the huge charity match, which has now been taking place since 2006 after being created by Robbie Williams. Speaking about making his Soccer Aid debut, Gorka said: "I am swapping my dancing shoes for my football boots! Let's hope I score a ten on matchday! I have wanted to play in Soccer Aid for years now but we've never been able to make it work with my dance commitments. "When the opportunity came up this year I snapped their hand off! I’ve been talking about it everyday at home - I think Gemma and the kids are bored of it! Gemma is a life-long Manchester Utd fan and with the game at Old Trafford - I don't know who is more excited, her or me!" The Strictly Come Dancing star added: "It will be an amazing family day out, raising money for UNICEF to help children across the world. The game is on Sunday 15th June - Father's Day! - so please buy your tickets today. Now for the debate on which kit our children will wear - England or the World XI!" He also shared the announcement to his Instagram Story and said: "So excited for this," as he was seen on the pitch at Old Trafford for the charity match's 2025 launch. Meanwhile, Gemma has revealed that Gorka is already in training. Taking to her Instagram Story, she shared a video of the Spaniard playing with a football in the garden of their Greater Manchester home. Alongside the clip, she wrote in view of her millions of followers: "@socceraid He's practicing already! @groka_marquez is playing for the rest of the world so fallouts in our house agin [face palm emoji and crying laughing emoji]. C'mon England!!!!" It comes after Gorka quipped during his appearance on Good Morning Britain about his and Gemma's roles in Soccer Aid: "This is going to cause a divorce before we're even married!" He went on: "The house is already divided. Mia [Gorka and Gemma's daughter] has told [Gemma], 'Mummy, do you know what? I'm going to go with Papa's team because I know they are better. They are the whole world so they're better than just England'. She's already supporting me."
