Harare will host thousands of international visitors later this year after being selected as one of 15 cities worldwide to host the 2025 “Pure Worship!” international convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses.
The three-day Bible education programme will take place at the National Sports Stadium from August 22 to 24 and September 5 to 7, 2025, bringing together about 40 000 local participants and 4 000 delegates from 14 countries including the United States, Europe and Africa.
Jehovah’s Witnesses spokesperson Mr Kudakwashe Chikuvadze said the event would provide a major boost to the city’s economy.
“We hosted a similar event in 2014 at the National Sports Stadium and we are happy to return 11 years later,” he said.
“The two events will create a substantial economic impact for hospitality, airlines and local businesses. This year’s theme focuses on true devotion, faith and uplifting pure worship.”
The programme will include Bible-based lectures, dramatic video presentations, interviews and personal experiences.
The convention is free and open to the public. Jehovah’s Witnesses hold some of the largest annual religious conventions in the world.
Mr Chikuvadze said Harare’s selection for the 2025 international series underscores the city’s capacity to host large-scale gatherings and provide opportunities for cultural exchange.
