Mumbai Indians (MI) beat Delhi Capitals to clinch their second Women's Premier League (WPL) title. Captain Harmanpreet Kaur and Nat Sciver-Brunt were at their best in the final. She scored a quick-fire 66 as MI posted 149/7 while batting first at the Brabourne Stadium, Mumbai. The Capitals lost regular wickets in response as they finished at 141/9. Here are the key stats. Kaur's knock was pivotal for MI, especially after the side was reeling at 14/2. She stood up when her side needed her the most, and played an aggressive knock, hitting Annabel Sutherland for a six and four in one over. In another over against Jess Jonassen, she hit three back-to-back boundaries. Her 79-run stand with Nat Sciver-Brunt (30) tilted the match's momentum back in their favor. Marizanne Kapp, Marizanne Kapp, and Jess Jonassen dismissed two batters each. The Capitals could never get going in the second innings as MI bowlers struck at regular intervals. Jemimah Rodrigues (30) was the only one among the top-five batters to cross the 15-run mark. Though Marizanne Kapp (40) tried holding one end, she could not receive the required support. As a result, the Capitals fell short and finished as runners-up yet again. The 18th over, which saw Sciver-Brunt claim two wickets, sealed the fate of the game. Notably, MI had beaten none other than DC to clinch the inaugural WPL edition in 2023. As the Capitals lost the title clash to Royal Challengers Bangalore last season, they have now finished as runners-up for the third time in a row. Meanwhile, Kaur's team lifts the silverware for the second time. Kaur's 66 was laced with nine fours and two sixes. She consumed just 44 balls, striking at 150. She was the aggressor in the stand alongside Sciver-Brunt. This was Kaur's third fifty of the season as she finished as the fifth-highest run-getter with 302 runs at 33.55. Overall, the veteran has raced to 851 runs at 40.52 in the WPL. Sciver-Brunt, who made 30 off 28 balls, became the first batter to accomplish 1,000 WPL runs. The all-rounder has now raced to 1,027 career WPL runs. She averages 46.68 with the help of eight fifties. Moreover, her tally of 32 wickets is the fifth-most for any bowler in the competition's history. Notably, she claimed 3/30 across four overs with the ball in the final clash. Sciver-Brunt's tally of five fifties in WPL 2025 is the most by any batter in one season. Earlier this season, she became the first player to hammer 400 runs in a WPL edition. The star player finished the season with 523 runs from 10 matches at 65.37. RCB's Ellyse Perry (372) is the only other batter with over 310 runs in WPL 2025. Meanwhile, Sciver-Brunt also took 12 wickets in the season. DC were reeling at 44/4 when Kapp arrived to bat. Despite not receiving any substantial support, she batted valiantly and kept his side in the hunt. She was eventually dismissed in the 18th over for a 26-ball 40.
