Influencers have been instructed to clearly label marketing content. 10.44am, 26 Mar 2025 Share options THE CONSUMER WATCHDOG is cracking down on commercial posts by online influencers that are not clearly labelled as ads. The Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (CCPC) and Advertising Standards Authority of Ireland published guidance on influencer marketing in October 2023. Advertisement The agencies instructed influencers to use the hashtag #Ad for sponsored social media posts, including ‘gifted’ or their own-brand products. Yesterday, the CCPC said it had served rugby star Brian O’Driscoll with a compliance order in relation to these guidelines.
